Five Vying For Two Selectmen Seats; Three Running for School Committee

The Stoughton Town Election is set for April 4.

STOUGHTON, MA — Residents will not have a lack of choices for the top spots in local government when they enter the voting booth Tuesday.

The Stoughton Town Election ballot will have contested races for two selectmen seats, two school committee seats, and moderator.

In the selectmen's race, Chairman David Sousa is seeking reelection. Challenging for the two seats will be Richard Hill, John Harman Semerjian, former board member Cynthia Walsh and Michael Sullivan. Selectman Joseph Mokrisky has opted to run for town moderator.

School committee chairperson Katie Pina-Enokian is looking for another 3-year term on the committee, with Sandra Groppi and former school committee member Erdem Ural hoping to take the seats. Committee member Joaquin Soares is not running for reelection.

In addition to Mokrisky, Adam Dawkins is aiming to unseat Howard Hansen as moderator.

One question asking voters to outlaw all recreational marijuana businesses in Stoughton will be on the ballot. If approved, recreational marijuana retail stores, manufacturing operations, testing facilities, and growing facilities will not be allowed. It will remain legal to smoke the drug and the vote will not affect medical marijuana laws.
