Stoughton Homeowners To See 1.5 Percent Property Tax Hike In 2020
The residential property tax rates went down in Stoughton, but your taxes are likely to increase because of rising property values.
STOUGHTON, MA — The average Stoughton homeowner will see their property tax bill increase $85.08 after Selectmen met with the Board of Assessors in October and voted on the fiscal year 2020 tax rates. Selectmen approved a residential tax rate of $14.89 per $1,000 of assessed valued and a commercial rate of $25.59 per $1,000 of assessed value. Both of those rates are down from last year's rates of $15.34 per $1,000 for residential and $26.73 for commercial, but most people will see an increase to their tax bill because of rising property values.
The average single-family homeowner in Stoughton will see their property taxes go up by about 1.5 percent, or a little over $85 because of the average residential property assessment of 384,263, compared to last year at $367,445.
Business owners on average will see a .3 percent increase to their tax bill, or a little more than $66.
