Stoughton Woman Arrested, Charged For DUI, Other Alcohol Offenses
Susan Paulas was arrested after she struck a truck, left the scene of the accident, and appeared disoriented after being stopped by police.

HINGHAM, MA – A 51-year Stoughton woman was arrested and charged with various alcohol-related offenses, including drunk driving , after police said she was involved in an accident and then left the scene, Hingham police reported.
A published report indicated that Susan Paulas was arrested and charged after police pulled her over on Route 3 after she reportedly crashed into a cargo truck that was stopped at a red light on Derby St. on the afternoon of July 30.
No one was injured in the crash, police said, but the media report cited a police report in which officers indicated they found Paulas to be heavily intoxicated when they pulled her over after she left the scene of the accident.

According to the police report, Paulas refused a sobriety test and appeared disoriented and was unsteady on her feet. Police wrote in their report that Paulas exhibited slurred speech did not seem to know why she had been pulled over. Paulus denied being in an accident despite heavy damage that had been done to the front end of her car.
Officers wrote in their report that Paulas told them that she had spoken with the driver of the truck she reportedly hit before leaving the scene of the accident. When speaking to police, Paulas used an anti-Black slur to describe the passengers in the truck.

According to the report, Paulas told officers that she had consumed four beers throughout the day. But after searching her vehicle, police discovered six containers of alcohol, including two that were opened. Once taken to the police department, Paulas reportedly appeared ready to fall asleep on her feet and threatened to urinate in her pants, police wrote in their report.
Police also maintain that the booking process was difficult due to Paulas’s inability to comprehend what officers were telling her. Paulas was charged with a second offense of operating a vehicle while under the influence and issued citations for failure to stop for a red light, possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident and other charges.
