Third Candidate Announces Selectmen Recall Run

Richard Hill is gearing up for another run for a seat on the board of selectmen.

STOUGHTON, MA — A challenger in last spring's town election is throwing his hat into the recall race.

In an announcement posted on the Facebook page of the pro-recall group Stoughton First, Richard Hill announced that he will vie for the three seats up for grabs. The election will be for seats held by selectmen David Sousa, Robert Cohn, and Peter Brown.

"We have so much to be thankful for in our town. In that regard, and for this reason, I continue to have a sense of commitment to act before any of our progress is compromised. Stoughton deserves better. We deserve a board with members who have the experience and skills necessary to move our town forward, build a clear plan for achieving our goals and to see it through. Stoughton needs a qualified candidate, a leader that is committed to all our residents. That is why I am running. I absolutely know I can help," Hill wrote in his announcement.

In the spring, Hill was third in a race for two selectmen seats, finishing only 63 votes behind second-place finisher Sousa.

Hill joins finance committee member Christine Howe and town meeting and financial committee member Stephen Cavey as the announced challengers. The three incumbents have until Sept. 11 to announce if they are going to run in the recall election or resign from their seats.
