Sudbury's Free Taxi Ride Service Will Continue Into 2023
The Go Sudbury! service began during the pandemic with a state grant. It will continue into 2023 after a Town Meeting vote.
SUDBURY, MA — A town program that provides free rides to low-income and other vulnerable residents will be on call through at least spring 2023 following a recent Town Meeting vote.
Town Meeting approved a $100,000 appropriation to keep the Go Sudbury! Taxi and Uber programs going through fiscal year 2023, which includes the 12 months beginning on July 1.
The program started up in fall 2020 thanks to a grant from the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) and MassDevelopment. The program continued through March 2021 when it was renewed due to a second MassDevelopment grant. At the time, Sudbury teamed up with Concord and Maynard to provide free rides.
