Swampscott Faces Planned National Grid Outage (patch.com) — Swampscott residents in certain neighborhoods should prepare for a planned National Grid power outage early Friday morning, running from about 1 a.m. to 4 a.m. The town urges those with medical or sensitive electronic equipment to arrange backups and shut down devices, and is directing questions to National Grid while asking neighbors to share the notice locally.

New Swampscott Perfoming Arts Venue To Host MCC's First Rock Fundraiser (patch.com) — Swampscott's new Center for the Performing Arts will host Swamp-Stock: Rock the Night!, a rock fundraiser for Marblehead Counseling Center on Oct. 1. Local organizers hope the Swampscott event will broaden awareness of mental health services across the North Shore while raising money through tickets, sponsorships, and community support.

Synagogue vandalism suspect to stay in jail pending hearing (jewishjournal.org) — A man is being held on cash bail while facing charges tied to alleged damage at Congregation Shirat Hayam on Atlantic Avenue in Swampscott, including civil rights and property destruction counts. Prosecutors opposed releasing him to a mental health program, and a judge ordered him jailed at least until a follow-up hearing later this month.
