Cosy Sheridan has been called “one of the era’s finest and most thoughtful singer-songwriters.” She first caught the attention of national folk audiences in 1992 when she won both the Kerrville Folk Festival’s New Folk Award and The Telluride Bluegrass Festival Troubadour Contest, then released her critically acclaimed CD Quietly Led on Waterbug Records.
Since then she’s released nine more CDs, taught songwriting at workshops and camps across the country and written a one-woman-show entitled The Pomegranate Seed – An Exploration of Appetite, Body-Image and Myth. She is one of the most respected touring musicians on the folk circuit, appearing everywhere from Carnegie Hall to the Jerry Lewis Telethon and the Philadelphia Folk Festival.

Her concerts are wide-ranging explorations: modern renditions of mythology (meet Hades the Biker), children’s stories woven into tales of modern adulthood, blues and gospel guitar and love songs for adults. Her alter ego, Chlamydia, often appears with songs such as Botox Tango or Multiply Pierced. The Cornell Folksong Society wrote: “Sheridan is frank, feisty, sublimely and devilishly funny. She fuses myth with modern culture; Persephone with Botox.”
In 2011 when she released her tenth CD, The Horse King, The Chicago Examiner wrote: “You can’t make it into double digits, and continue touring for twenty or so years, unless you know what you’re doing, and do it well. Rarely do you find a CD where every song is memorable. It happens, just not often. It happens here.” Listen to Sheridan’s music on her Web site at www.CosySheridan.com.
Claudia Russell is an outstanding singer and songwriter who is returning to the Linden Tree stage with her new CD All Our Luck Is Changing. With its memorable melodies and seductive soundscape, Claudia Russell’s new album, All Our Luck Is Changing, elicits the classic era of ageless American music. Russell delivers a whimsical melting pot of traditional and contemporary styles, from earnest folk to sweet jug band blues, driven by her deft guitar work and a versatile, expressive voice that tips the hat to artists as diverse as Dolly Parton, Suzanne Vega and Aretha Franklin. Claudia paints her material with emotional depth, looking forward and back at life with both childlike awe and the mature wisdom of a musician with four decades of music under her belt.
Boston’s WUMB FM named Claudia the Best New Artist of 2000, the East Bay Express named her Best Musician in 2006, and she has twice been selected as a finalist in the Kerrville New Folk songwriting competition. Claudia was a 2004 finalist in the Sisters Folk Festival Songwriters contest in Bend Oregon and the 2002 KRCL Songwriting contest in Salt Lake City.
Besides writing evocative songs, Claudia is known for her vocal talent. She is an expressive and versatile singer, as at home on a soulful ballad as a Buddy Holly style romp. But music is in the ear of the listener. So have a listen and hear for yourself! www.claudiarussell.com
