The Linden Tree Coffeehouse will celebrate the 30th season finale with a special mini-festival on Saturday, May 30. The show will have an early 7:00 pm start and run to almost 11 pm featuring a mini-festival of acoustic music performers. The lineup will feature encore performances from Joe Crookston, Gail Rundlett, and The Blunt Instruments as well as a set from banjo players Ed Britt and Don Borchelt.

JOE CROOKSTON from Ithaca, NY is an artist, writer, singer, guitar picker, painter, claw hammer banjo player, eco-village member and believer in all things possible. Joe made the Top 10 Artists of 2014 list on the Folk DJ charts, along with Pete Seeger, Bob Dylan, John McCutcheon, John Gorka and the Stray Birds. Joe’s story songs are universal, masterful and his concerts are a grand celebration of all of us. You’ll travel with him along mystical, historical, and humorous roads, and twist through personal stories along the way. Amber eyes, Oklahoma towns, rattlesnake tails, Grandmother Moons and silver crowns. At the end of the night, you’ll likely leave inspired, taking home a renewed sense of what’s possible. Through his spirit and playfulness and his unwavering courage to be himself, you will be moved in ways you didn’t expect. He is literate, poignant and really funny.

GAIL FINNIE RUNDLETT is one of New England’s finest folk musicians, performing as a solo artist for over 25 years in New England’s coffeehouses, clubs, festivals, concert halls, museums, and schools. Our Linden Tree audience often chooses her as one of their favorites as they love to sing along with her traditional ballads and contemporary songs. She plays Appalachian dulcimer and guitar. Gail teaches dulcimer, both privately and in workshops at various festivals in the Northeast.

THE BLUNT INSTRUMENTS are the Linden Tree Coffeehouse’s original folk band, a quartet that began in 1985. Linden Tree fans are delighted to have them back together playing everything from extremely old English, Irish, and Scottish ballads to American cowboy, Appalachian mountain, and minstrel tunes. Their set will include contemporary songs from the Kingston Trio, fiddle tunes, and maybe a sea chanty as well. Members of the Blunt Instruments include Ed Britt, our NE Banjo champion, Paul Harty on mandolin, guitar, fiddle, and harmonica, Bill Knott on guitar, and Jim Bradley on washboard and possibly other surprises. The group appears on the CD “Under the Linden Tree,” which celebrated the 20th season of shows.

Also appearing with Ed Britt is Don Borchelt with dueling banjos and other tunes. They appear often in Harvard Square and the local farmers markets.

Thanks to support in part by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, Wakefield Chapter, tickets will be $20, students under 13 $10. Doors will open at 6:30 for the show starting at 7 pm. Home made baked goods and beverages will be sold prior to the show and during intermission.

The Linden Tree Coffeehouse is located at the Unitarian-Universalist Church, 326 Main Street, Wakefield. For more information about the show or to reserve tickets, call 781-246-2836 or visit www.lindentreecoffeehouse.org.
