Monday Night Football Program a Success at Boys & Girls Club

Tag football program takes off at the Boys & Girls Club in Stoneham and Wakefield.

When you combine the fall season and Monday nights you are only left with one thought, football. Monday nights and football go hand-in-hand, so to piggyback off this legendary partnership the Boys & Girls Club of Stoneham and Wakefield decided to try the combination out for themselves. The result? A four team, double elimination, tag football tournament held at the Boys & Girls Club in Stoneham hosted every other Monday during the football season.

So far, this program has showed great success after its first two events. Both Monday Night Football games has brought over twenty members between the ages of 10 and 13. “It’s great seeing the kids get this excited over something so simple as this”, Program Director Danny Lumb says. “Both times we have run this event, the kids have had an absolute blast and look forward to coming back for the next one”. Along with running a football tournament, this free program also includes, free pizza and water, music and televisions set to the pregame of the Monday Night Football game.

The last Monday Night Football tournament will take place December 21st from 6-8PM. However this won’t be the last time football will be played at the club this school year. As part of the winter gym schedule, football will be played weekly and we will also be starting a winter football league for members 10 and older.
