New Advocacy Group Forms
The Wakefield Civic League is created to give voice to residents and combat over-development
A new grassroots citizen organization – The Wakefield Civic League – has been founded to check undesirable over development in Wakefield. The proposed Bright view project is the League’s first order of business; its goal is to endorse an appropriately-sized assisted living facility that will serve the needs of seniors, while respecting the current Crescent, Eaton and Main Street residents and businesses – without compromising the integrity of the neighborhood.
Like similar groups that have coalesced in solidarity around the country when faced with Maryland-based Shelter Group Corporation/ Brightview’s large developments, The Wakefield Civic League will seek ways to ensure that the Brightview facility benefits all of Wakefield by preserving and protecting the character of its proposed adopted neighborhood.
Our members care deeply about Wakefield – its past, present and future. We are eager to register our Non-Profit status and have thus far elected the following Officers and Directors:
