The service club recently qualified for outstanding award

The Wakefield Interact Club has qualified for the 2014-15 Rotary International Presidential Citation for Interact Clubs. This award recognizes active Interact Clubs who demonstrate participation in a combination of the following areas:
- partnering with another Rotary club on a project or event
- participating in an event that promotes international understanding
- introducing members to other Rotary opportunities for young leaders
- participating in a fundraiser to support polio eradication
- submitting a video for the Interact Video Contest
- participating in a project to support one of Rotary’s areas of focus
- collaborating with a Rotary service partner
- participating in a career day or mentoring activity
- recommending an outbound Interactor who then joins a Rotaract Club
The Wakefield Interact Club qualified under four areas this year. Members regularly volunteer to reduce hunger by partnering with the Wakefield Rotary Club’s annual food drives. This year the club also sent several teens to Rotary’s World Peace and Understanding Dinner, held in Wakefield, to promote a greater understanding of the needs of youth around the world. This year, the club volunteered to host children’s activities at the Italian Festival and promote youth programs. Finally, the club participated in this year’s Polar Plunge to eradicate polio held just this past weekend.
The Wakefield Club was among the five local Interact Clubs to qualify, including the Gloucester High School Interact, Marblehead High School Interact, Reading Interact, and Revere High School Interact.
