Waltham Among Safest College Towns in the Country
The home of Bentley and Brandeis earned top marks in a new report from SafeWise.

WALTHAM, MA – This year's list of the 30 Safest College Towns in America has been released, and Waltham was among three Massachusetts towns to make the grade.
The list was compiled by SafeWise, which examined the most recent FBI crime statistics, as well as safety-related programs and initiatives in college cities across the country.
Waltham, home to Bentley University, Brandeis University and the Center for Digital Imaging Arts for Boston University, came in at No. 23 on the list and was the second-safest college town in Massachusetts.

Amherst ranked ahead of Waltham at No. 7 and Westfield rounded out the list at No. 27.

"Settled along the banks of the Charles River, Waltham is a city founded on hard work and workers’ rights," SafeWise wrote. "As an early epicenter of the labor movement, this safe college city has always been fiercely protective of its citizens."
