WAYLAND, MA — Wayland is the latest community in Massachusetts to be hit by the new coronavirus, COVID-19. Two schools are closed Wednesday after a parent of two children tested positive for the virus.

According to a letter from Superintendent Arthur Unobskey, the parent's children go to Loker Elementary School and Wayland Middle School. Both schools will undergo an "enhanced cleaning using a deep disinfection protocol."

"Because neither student had exhibited any symptoms and had not been in school since last week, we do not have reason to believe that the students were contagious or that students and staff in the two buildings were exposed to COVID-19," his letter continues. "Therefore, based on direction from the Wayland Department of Health, we do not see the need for any students or staff in Loker or the Middle School to consider self-quarantining at this time."
