Former Metrowest Doctor Indicted On Rape Charges Of 11 Female Patients

The Middlesex DA said that new victims have come forward accusing the former doctor of rape and sexual assault.

WAYLAND, MA — A former doctor in Framingham who was indicted last year on charges that he raped two female patients is facing additional charges.

Derrick Todd, 52, of Wayland, was indicted on three counts of rape and seventeen counts of indecent assault and battery for the alleged sexual assaults of 11 women, the Middlesex District Attorney's Office announced on Thursday.

The Middlesex DA said that 11 new female victims, who ranged in age from 20 to 60 years old, have come forward accusing Todd of rape and sexual assault. This all occurred between 2021 and 2023 while acting as a rheumatologist and primary care physician at Charles River Medical Associates, according to the DA.

“The allegations are that the defendant in this case exploited his patients' vulnerability and abused his position of trust as a medical professional," said Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan. "No person should have to fear for their safety when seeking medical treatment. Under the guise of medical treatment, the defendant allegedly victimized multiple women while practicing medicine in Framingham."

Todd was also accused of conducting unnecessarily excessive pelvic and breast examinations, as well as performing procedures where he lacked appropriate training and certification, the DA said.

In some instances, Todd assaulted the women under the guise of legitimate medical treatment, including purported pelvic floor therapy, all while he was not qualified to perform that type of therapy, according to the DA.

He will be arraigned in Middlesex Superior Court on Mar. 25
