• Wayland School Among Top 15 Public High Schools In MA For 2026-27, New Ranking Says (patch.com) — Wayland residents can celebrate as Wayland High School ranks 14th among all public high schools in Massachusetts and 358th nationwide in U.S. News & World Report's 2026–27 list. The ranking reflects strong performance on state tests, graduation rates, and college readiness, as well as how effectively the school serves underserved students and supports advanced coursework. 
• Wayland Gets $100K State Grant For Energy Upgrades, Electric Vehicles (patch.com) — Wayland has secured a $100,475 state Green Communities grant to upgrade LED lighting in town buildings and help buy an electric work van and police vehicle. Local officials say the funding advances Wayland's Climate Action Mobilization Plan by cutting municipal energy use and accelerating the shift to electric vehicles.
• NBC 10 PM Flash Briefing: August 19, 2026 (turnto10.com) — Wayland police and fire say an 8-year-old Sudbury boy who was critically injured when a tree fell on him at Camp Chickami has now died, a tragedy that hits close to home for many local families.
