Winners of the 2012 Free Throw contest advanced to the district competition held today at Wachusett Regional High School.

“This is a national competition run by the Knights of Columbus,” said organizer Jim O’Connor. “These competitions are taking place all over the country.”

Congratulations to the following Westborough competitors who now qualify for the regional competition to be held in Webster on March 10:

• Jason Hicks, 10-year-old boy
• Haley Welsh, 10-year-old girl
• Declan Gardner, 11-year-old boy
• Marisa Papagelis, 11-year-old girl
• Caroline Grady, 12-year-old girl
• Cavan Crowley, 13-year-old boy
• Kaleigh Wright, 13-year-old girl
• Eric Latimer, 14-year-old boy

Winners in the March 10 competition will advance to the state finals, scheduled to take place at Regis College in Weston on April 7.
