Marathon experience: Andrew ran in the past four Boston Marathons. This will be his fifth Boston Marathon in a row, and it will be his tenth marathon. He said that his personal goal is to beat the three hour mark, something he missed last year by 50 seconds. “I’m hoping this is my year,” he said.
Reason for running: Andrew said he is running this year for fun. While he has run for charity in the past and previously run with his wife, he said he will be running solo on April 18. Surprisingly, he has not always been a marathoner. He explained that biking was his sport after college, but he found less time for the it after starting a family. So, he started running in 2001-and it did not come easily. “I could not finish a mile for almost a month,” he said. By 2007, he was running the Boston Marathon.

Training tip: Andrew runs about four to five days a week. He said that it took five years of running to get him to a point where he is pretty much injury free. His advice to anyone who would like to try a marathon is to “be consistent with running” and stick with a traning program. “You don’t need to run a lot to finish marathon,” he said.
