Deer Hunters May Now Use Muzzleloaders

The Massachusetts Department of Fisheries and Wildlife explains a change in the muzzleloader regulation.

The (DFW) in Westborough reported that a muzzleloader regulation change is now in effect. The change was approved in the spring and became official when it was recently published in the Massachusetts Register and the Code of Massachusetts Regulations.

The regulation allows deer hungers to use a hinge or break-open action muzzleloaders during the primitive firearms season for deer, and it will be in effect for the 2011 deer season. Previously, this type of muzzleloader was prohibited from use during primitive firearms deer season.

The 2011 primitive firearms season for deer begins on December 12 and ends on December 31. The DFW said that all blackpowder guns used during this season must load from the muzzle.
