Marathon experience: This will be Michelle’s fourth marathon. She ran the Boston marathon in 2008, the same year she ran in two other marathons. A knee injury halted her running, and she took some time off. “I’m excited to be running the Boston Marathon this year,” she said.

Reason for running:  Michelle, a teacher at , said that she had never been a runner. However, after the unexpected death of her brother in 2007, her sister suggested she take up the sport as a way to relieve stress. “She said, ‘It will keep you sane,’ and it did,” Michelle shared.
