Reason for running: Originally from Sussex England, Dave is a notable New England competitive runner. “I’ve used racing as my motivation for running,” he says. Dave placed third in his age category in the 2008 Boston Marathon, and won the USATF New England Road Racing Grand Prix in his age category three times (2007-2009). He regularly runs with several competitive veteran runners, including legendary Bill Rodgers of Boston Marathon fame. Dave loves running because “it helps me stay fit, stay trim, and I don’t regret one second of it.”A self described “Boston addict,” Dave loves running Boston because “It’s the best marathon in the world. And it’s on my doorstep.”

Training tip: Dave has helped many with marathon training, including his daughter Amy (26), who ran her first marathon with her dad in 2008 and is currently training for her second one. This seasoned marathoner’s training advice is: “Do your homework. Put together a training schedule and stick with it. Don’t overtrain. Don’t undertrain. And listen to your body. Through your experience, learn to identify the early onset of injuries and don’t be afraid to back off on your training if injuries sneak up on you.”
