Reason for Running: “I was going to run no matter what,” he said, adding that joining a team to raise money for the Michael Carter Lisnow Respite Center made the decision worthwhile. According to the Hopkinton center website, it is “a place that provides emotional and physical support for individuals with disabilities and their families.” So far, Matthew has raised about $2,000 for the center. He thanks his supporters with a gift of home-brewed beer. “It makes a great thank you gift,” he said. This year, he is giving away dopplebock beer.

Training Tips: “For me, hydration has always been an issue. I lose my legs to hydration, not to fatigue,” he said. His tip for runners it to keep hydrated and keep track of water intake.
