Qualified Runner Raising Funds for Alzheimer's

Trish Reske qualified for this year's Boston Marathon, but she's still running with the Alzheimer's Association Run for the Memory Team.

Age: 50

Marathon experience: This will be the seventeenth marathon, and ninth consecutive Boston Marathon for business owner, mom and writer Trish’s first race was the 1999 5K Fun Run in Westborough. For the past three years, Trish has also run the Reach the Beach Relay with the Alzheimer’s Association. It’s a 200 miles, 36-hour run from Cannon Mountain to Hampton Beach, New Hampshire.

Reason for running: For the fifth year in a row, Trish Reske will be running with the Alzheimer’s Association Run for the Memory team as a qualified runner.  She will be running in memory of her mother who was taken by Alzheimer’s in 2008. Trish told Westborough Patch, “Running a marathon is nothing compared to the ten year ordeal that my mom lived through.” This year Trish’s goal is to raise $3,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association. Training tip: Trish's training advice for those who want to attempt a marathon is to start conservatively, trying out shorter distance races to see if you enjoy running and to avoid injuries. Regarding those who run Boston, Trish recommends a lot of downhill training to prepare for the course.
