Westborough Grad Gets College Soccer Honor

College junior Emily Mongeau is named to the 2010 Northeast-10 women's soccer Academic All-Conference team.

Westborough native and college junior Emily Mongeau, of the Southern New Hampshire University women’s soccer team, has been named to the 2010 Northeast-10 women’s soccer Academic All-Conference team, as announced by the league office on Feb. 15.

The Academic All-Conference selections are voted on by a committee of athletic administrators and faculty athletic representatives.

In order to be a Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference selection, a student-athlete must participate in at least half of his or her team’s competitions and be a starter or significant contributor. Student-athletes must also achieve at least a 3.3 grade-point average on a 4.0 scale and the must have completed at least one full academic year at his or her current institution.

Mongeau started all 16 games in which she appeared on defense this season and earned Northeast-10 Third Team honors. She recorded one goal on the season in a 4-0 win against Bentley and spearheaded a Penmen defense that posted an NE-10 second-best nine shutouts and held their opponents to an average of just 10.4 shots per game.
