Police Investigating Assault on Train Tracks Near Roche Bros.

Two teens were reportedly assaulted by four males after a verbal altercation at McDonald's in Westwood.

Police received a report from a 17-year-old male from Westwood on Jan. 5. The teen reported that he and a fellow 18-year-old were assaulted by four unknown males in Westwood on Dec. 31 after a verbal disagreement ensued at McDonald's on Providence Highway/Rte. 1 in Norwood.

"The verbal confrontation eventually ended, and upon leaving McDonald's, the two Westwood youths left the property," said Westwood Police Detective Paul Toland. "While walking back to a residence in Westwood, they were on the railroad tracks near Roche Bros., when they heard people behind them. it was the same four males, and there was a physical altercation."

Police did not provide details on the fight that ensued, but said that the 17-year-old Westwood resident claimed one of the unknown males hit him over the head with a hard object, though it was unclear what that object was. The teen then received medical treatment at an area hospital, from which he was medically cleared after receiving a number of stitches.

"There has been some information received relative to the matter, which is being investigated, and we're encouraging other people to come forward," Toland said.
