Police Log: After-Hours Entry, Stolen Cameras and a House Break

Friday, June 1
Student Caught in High School After Hours (12:18 p.m.) - Principal Sean Bevan filed a report of locating a person inside the building without authorization during the overnight hours, according to Westwood Police. The matter is to be handled between the school and the individual involved.
Cameras Stolen from Business (8:21 a.m.) - UDT, a business the is in the process of moving into a building in University Avenue, reported the theft of 16-some USB cameras and a power supply. The cameras were found missing from the building, and the matter is under investigation.

Driver Cited Near East Street (12:16 a.m.) - Westwood Police issued a criminal summons to the operator of a Blue Lexus sedan at the intersection of East Street and Strafford Road, after a police officer viewed the vehicle as it shifted into the left-hand travel lane of the road before coming to a full stop at a green light. Upon speaking with the driver, police issued a summons for driving with a suspended driver's license and a marked lanes violation.

House Break on High Street (10:41 p.m.) - A High Street resident reported to police that someone appeared to have broken into her home earlier in the daytime. Police responded to the home and determined that an individual had entered the house through an unlocked sliding door. Jewelry was also discovered to be missing from the home. The matter is under investigation.
Car Break at Hale (2:11 p.m.) - An individual entered the Westwood Police Department to report damage to his vehicle while parked at Hale Reservation. Specifically, a window had been smashed in and the owner's wallet, containing a Massachusetts driver's license, was stolen.
Teen Caught with Alcohol (12:53 a.m.) - A 17-year-old male was summonsed to court for being a minor in possession of alcohol after police found him to be walking along Lake Shore Driver overnight. The teen was brought home after speaking with police.
Tuesday, May 29
Shed Damaged at Business (10 a.m.) - An associate at a children's center on High Street reported vandalism to a shed on the property. Specifically, a window on the shed had been broken. Extra checks were requested, as well as video surveillance.
