Police Log: An Attempted House Break and Unauthorized Oil Changing

The following information was supplied by the Westwood Police Department for the week of April 23-30. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Monday, April 30

Cement Truck Accident (12:09 p.m.) – Westwood Police responded to the area of High Street and North Street near on Monday afternoon on a report of three-vehicle accident involving a Tresca Bros. cement truck. Two vehicles were towed from the scene, and there were no injuries in the accident, police said. While the road was not closed off, officers were on scene for some time to clear the road of debris.

Attempted Burglary at Residence (6:51 p.m.) – A Blue Hill Drive resident reported to police that someone had attempted to break into their home over night but failed to do so. Officers responded and found tool markings on a sliding glass door to the residents. The rest of the home was secure, police said, and extra checks of the area have been requested.

Business Alleges Oil Changing (2:09 p.m.) – A representative for on High Street reported to police that someone had been allegedly changing oil in the parking lot during the overnight hours, and requested extra checks to the area. 

Tuesday, April 24 

Restraining Order (2:27 p.m.) – Police served a restraining order to a party affiliated with the Prime Motor Group’s on Providence Highway.

Monday, April 23

Shoplifting at Roche Bros. (7:26 p.m.) – A manager of in Islington reported to police that a white female customer, described as tall and thin, stole baby formula from the store before fleeing across the street. The matter is under investigation.
