Kids can cozy up with man’s best friend and a good book this weekend at your local library.
That’s right, the Winchester Library is holding an event for children, ages 5 and older, to read to a dog.
Each child gets one-on-one time with the dogs, who are Certified Reading Partners, for a 15 minute time slot.

Don’t forget to pick out a book. The reading begins on Saturday at 3 p.m. and ends at 4:30 p.m. in the Storytime Room at the Winchester Public Library, 80 Washington St.
Unfortunately, reading to dogs is a popular library activity and registration has already filled up.

Sad you didn’t learn about this event sooner? There will be another “Read to a Dog” event on Saturday, Feb. 28 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Registration begins three weeks in advance and those interested have to fill out a form to guarantee a spot. Following registration, parents will be contacted by a staff member of Winchester Children’s Services to confirm their child’s time slot.
Check out the full event description on the Winchester Public Library website.
