Winchester Murder Suspect Remains on the Run
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has ruled the cause of death to be "blunt force trauma to the head."

Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Winchester Police Chief Kenneth Albertelli announced on Monday that a murder charge has been filed in connection with the death of Barbara McAveeney, 70, of Winchester.
They issued an arrest warrant for Matthew McAveeney, who police allege murdered his mother. Winchester Police found the woman’s body on Oct. 14 during a well being check at her Swanton Street residence.
Matthew McAveeney remains at large. He is described as 5 feet, 7 inches tall, and weighs about 250 pounds. He has a shaved head.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has ruled the cause of death to be “blunt force trauma to the head and the manner of death was homicide.”
Police earlier filed arrest warrants for armed assault with intent to murder, assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon resulting in serious bodily injury, assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon on a person 60 years of age or older, assault and battery and two counts of cruelty to animals.

“This was a cruel and heinous attack on an elderly woman in her own home,” said District Attorney Ryan. “We are sharing these bank surveillance photos from October 11 again, and asking that if someone does recognize him to please report it to local police.”
