Former Woburn Police Officer Scott Quigley is now officially a Massachusetts State Police trooper. He and Woburn resident Christopher Pierce graduated from the MSP Academy Friday afternoon.

Troopers Quigley and Pierce join 206 others as the 2012 graduating class.

Pat Scanlon also graduated Friday. Prior to joining the MSP ranks, Scanlon worked for the Woburn Department of Public Works.

 

POLICE LOG: Man Attacks Cops in Holding Cell

Monday, March 12—At 7:33 p.m., Todd Michael Jensen, 40, of 305 Lexington St., was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, assault and battery on a police officer and assault. According to police, officers were called to Stop and Shop on Elm Street for a report of a man causing a disturbance. Police found Jensen heavily intoxicated and yelling and swearing at people outside the store. When police tried to speak with him, he ran into traffic on Elm Street and onto the traffic island on Sylvan Road. From the island, police said, Jensen continued to yell at passing cars. Police said Jensen then ran across the parking lot of the Baldwin Green and was yelling at the crowd that gathered. Using a cruiser spotlight to distract Jensen, officers were able to cuff his hands. Police said Jensen “became enraged and began spitting at us and trying again to kick us.” According to police, Jensen resisted during the booking process by “yelling, swearing and threatening all present.” In his cell, Jensen lunged at a police officer, whose back was turned as he was leaving the cell, and then hit a second officer in the chest. This is the sixth documented incident between Jensen and the police in the last month.

 

Police: Driver in Wrong-Way Crash on 93 was Drunk

Tuesday, March 13—A Bedford, Mass. man is facing drunk driving-related charges after  allegedly drunk and crashing his car, injuring four people.

James Milligan, 63, was arrested at Winchester Hospital and charged with operating under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of property damage accident, wrong way operation and operating under the influence of alcohol and causing a serious accident with personal injury, according to police.

 

POLICE LOG: Woman Loses Control of Car

Tuesday, March 13—At 7:58 p.m., police were called to Poole Street for a one-car accident. According to police, the 62-year-old driver lost control of the vehicle and the brakes did not work, causing the car to crash into a utility pole. The driver hit her head on the windshield and was taken to Winchester Hospital by Woburn Fire. The car was towed from the scene because it was unregistered and leaking fluid, said police. 

 

POLICE LOG: Dog Scares Intruder Off Property

March 14—At 9:27 p.m., a Woburn woman reported her basement broken into sometime during the day. According to police, fresh pry marks were found on a bulkhead door. A dog on the main level of the home may have scared off the intruder, said police. Nothing appeared to be missing from the home, reported police.
