Slain Police Officer Honored, Environmental Bills Pile Up, Record-Breaking Heat: Top Woburn News

A candlelight vigil was held in honor of the fifth anniversary of Woburn police officer John B. “Jack” Maguire’s passing on Saturday.

Friends and family of the fallen officer met at Kohls to hold a vigil in his honor. Maguire was killed in the line of duty while responding to an armed robbery in 2010. Maguire and one of the suspects allegedly exchanged gunfire and both suffered fatal wounds. Earlier this year, Scott Hanright was charged with 22 counts related to the incident including second degree murder.
