Former Price Chopper To Reopen As Modern Supermarket In Worcester

There will be a grand opening ceremony, featuring performances and free product samplings.

WORCESTER, MA — A former Price Chopper supermarket in Worcester will reopen this week as a Market 32 store.

The grocery store location on Park Avenue in Worcester will reopen as its more modern counterpart, Market 32. The company said it's "part of a $4.4 million investment to enhance the shopping experience for the local community."

The store will officially open to customers at 6 a.m. on Friday, with the grand reopening ceremony beginning at 10:15 a.m. Company executives, along with local leaders will be in attendance to mark the occasion.

The event will also feature a presentation of colors by South High School Air Force ROTC and a performance of the National Anthem by the Doherty Memorial High School select chorus.

There will be free product samplings from Coca-Cola, Ben & Jerry's, Boar's Head, and other items.

In honor of the reopening, Market 32 is offering all customers five-percent savings on Friday and Saturday. The business said it will also donate five percent of all sales on those days to Friendly House and Flourish and Thrive Pantry.

The store will be the company's 53rd Market 32 location. The business, based in Schenectady, New York, operates 128 supermarkets in the Northeast, including Market 32 and Price Chopper stores.

There is one other Market 32 location in Worcester at 72 Pullman St., and two other Price Choppers are 564 SW Cutoff and 29 Sunderland Rd.
