Farmington Board Selects Harrison Assistant Principal
Language arts teacher Allyson Robinson emerges from a field of 75 candidates.
When Allyson Robinson takes over her new duties as assistant principal, she won't need the usual orientation. She already knows where the media center and the cafeteria are, and she has met all of her colleagues.
That's because Robinson has been a language arts teacher at the school for 12 years, said executive director of instructional services Jon Manier, at the Dec. 6 Board of Education meeting.
Officials unanimously approved Manier's recommendation that Robinson be appointed to the post.

Interest in the position was "intense," Manier said. The district received 75 applications. But Robinson rose to the top, he said. She's considered a leader among peers in her department and in the school at large, he added. Robinson also writes curriculum for Oakland Schools.
"She's passionate, she's hard-working, and she's reflective," Manier said, adding Robinson will need those qualities to do her new job.
