Eight have earned Michigan Green Schools status and will be recognized in late May for their efforts.
Michigan Green Schools is a non-profit 501(c)3 agency dedicated to assisting all Michigan schools, public and private. School environmental goals include energy conservation, recycling initiatives, protecting the air, land, water and animals, along with world outreach through good ecological practices and the teaching of educational stewardship of students pre-K thru grade 12.
More than 20 environmental points are available to achieve Michigan Green School status. Scoring 10 to 14 earns Green status, 15 to 19 points earns Emerald and earning more than 20 points achieves the highest level, Evergreen.
