Farmington Eighth Graders Invited to Take 'Pledge for Success' at OCC March 1

'Pledge for Success' hosts a free program March 1 to help prepare students for high school

Farmington area 8th grade students and their parents are invited to “Your Success Starts Today,” a March 1 event designed to help them prepare for high school.

Held from 5:30 p.m.-8:45 p.m. at the Oakland Community College Orchard Ridge Campus - J Building, the free program will include a resource fair, student speakers, raffle prizes and information.

Presentations will include: "Making Good Choices...for a successful high school experience," "Choosing a Pathway and Preparing for the Journey," "High School Learning Opportunities," and "Financial Aid."

Pledge for Success is a coalition of educators, public institutions, businesses, community organizations, and others dedicated to establishing Farmington/Farmington Hills as the hub of educational opportunity in metro Detroit. The Pledge coalition encourages all citizens to attain a strong academic foundation for their personal success and the success of the entire community.

Pledge adopters include: Farmington Public Schools, Farmington Community Library, City of Farmington Hills, City of Farmington, Greater Farmington Area Chamber of Commerce, Farmington/Farmington Hills Foundation for Youth and Families, Farmington/Farmington Hills Multicultural Multiracial Community Council (MCMR), Farmington Education Association, Farmington Area PTA Council, Botsford General Hospital, Farmington Area Interfaith Association, Farmington Family YMCA, Oakland Community College and Farmington Youth Assistance.
