Farmington Schools Seeks Volunteers to Evaluate Trimesters

Group meetings will be held in August and September.

Falling revenues and public questions have led officials to re-evaluate the four-year-old trimester high school schedules, and volunteers are being sought to help with the process.

In conjunction with Oakland Schools' Research, Evaluation and Assessment Consultant, Dr. Lindson Feun and the District's assessment office, a plan for the review of trimesters has been crafted.

As part of the plan, a Trimester Evaluation Work Group will examine grades, standardized test performance, survey data from students and teachers, District demographic data and enrollment figures, as part of the study.

Officials hope to develop a team that includes a diversity of experiences, years in the district and current school assignments. The goal is to have 5 to 10 parents and community members and 15 to 20 staff members participate in this process.

The work product of this group will be included in a trimester evaluation report which will be presented to the Board of Education this fall.
