First Day of School Goes Smoothly for Most

One group of Farmington students ended up waiting a little longer than they expected for their bus.

While the business of getting more than 10,000 students back to school went well today, one group of students ended up waiting longer than anticipated for their bus.

A group in the Franklin Knolls subdivision waited this morning for their bus to arrive, while other buses rolled past them, a parent reported this morning on Facebook. She said she eventually called the district and another bus was sent.

Director of School and Community Relations Diane Bauman said the bus driver arrived at the stop 10 minutes early.

According to transportation supervisor Bill Tousley, Bauman said, the driver picked up students who were at the stop when she arrived, and then finished her route.

The driver's early arrival, Bauman said, "is actually within the allotted time when students are supposed to be at their bus stop. A bus can arrive up to 10 minutes early on some days."
