• Farmington joins ebike, escooter ban movement (mlive.com) — Farmington's City Council is moving toward banning ebikes, escooters and other small motorized vehicles from downtown sidewalks and city parks, with an ordinance now being drafted after an Aug. 17 discussion. Councilmembers are weighing pedestrian safety against keeping Farmington bike-friendly, looking at crash data, enforcement approaches, and how neighboring cities like Berkley and Rochester are handling similar bans. 
• Rochester Approves Downtown Social District for Outdoor Drinking and Shopping (wcsx.com) — Farmington already operates a social district that, according to Farmington Hills' DDA director, helps Farmington Brewing Company bring in about $40,000 a year. Now Rochester is joining Farmington and other Oakland County cities by allowing patrons to carry to-go alcoholic drinks in a marked downtown zone, aiming to boost foot traffic and support local businesses ahead of the holiday season.
