Judge to Sentenced Shooter: I'll Watch You Like a Hawk
Andrew Nutt was sentenced to at least 27 years in prison in the 2014 shooting death of a 76-year-old Plymouth Twp. man.

A Westland man was sentenced between 27 to 60 years in prison Friday in connection with the shooting death and robbery of a 76-year-old Plymouth Township man last year, according to a HometownLife report.

Last month, Andrew J. Nutt, 22, of Westland, agreed to a deal that had him plead guilty to second-degree murder and to using a gun during a felony in order to have other charges—including a count of first-degree murder—dropped. Kenneth LaBita was found shot in the back of his head in his house Oct. 27.

Wayne County Circuit Judge Mark Slavens, who had threatened to throw out the plea deal, had strong words for Nutt during sentencing, the report stated:
“This is one of the most despicable acts that I’ve ever seen. I think that the act that you committed was evil.”

Miriah Pisarski, 20, Nutt’s accessory in the crime, was sentenced to between two and five years previous day. Prosecutors claimed Nutt had been recorded making threats over the phone against Pisarski, the report stated.
Because of that, Slavens told Nutt that he would watch the Westland man “like a hawk” and come after him if anything happened to Pisarski, the report added.
