Semi Truck Fire Closes 1-696 At Mound Rd In Warren: MSP

Officials determined there was no crash or injuries, but did say the truck was carrying wood pallets, which added to the fire.​

WARREN, MI — All westbound lanes on Interstate 696 at Mound Road in Warren was closed Thursday morning due to semi truck fire, Michigan State Police said.

Officials said the semi truck was fully engulfed in flames on the freeway's right shoulder at 4:40 a.m. and closed the freeway for hours.

The freeway reopened Thursday afternoon.

Police determined there was no crash or injuries, but did say the truck was carrying wood pallets, which added to the fire. Police also said there were no other vehicles were involved in the incident.

Officials said the freeway will reopen once the area is safe and crews have cleaned up the wreckage, as well as inspecting and salting the road.
