Transfer Edina Teachers to Minneapolis Schools? April Fools!

On Monday, the Minnesota Progressive Project reported on a 'widely supported, bi-partisan bill' that it claimed would remake the state's education system.

The Minnesota Progressive Project had some big news Monday.

Education policy makers had introduced a “widely supported, bi-partisan bill” that would transfer all teachers in Edina Public Schools to Minneapolis Public Schools, the organization reported.

“H.R. 108” was sponsored by Minnetonka Sen. Terri Bonoff and reportedly had the backing of Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak, U.S. Secretary of Education Gov. Arne Duncan.

“In Edina, they  pass the MCA writing, reading, and math exit exams at a 97%, 95%, and 72% rate.  Meanwhile, Minneapolis students pass at a rate of 67%, 58%, and 27%,” the report stated. “Supporters of the bill remind us that there is zero difference between the challenge of achievement for an Edina student and a Minneapolis student. The Minneapolis teachers are solely responsible for those terrible results.”

It was only at the end of the report that readers found out the report was not exactly on the up-and-up.
