Volunteers Sought for Seats on Watershed District's Board

Portions of Edina lie within the boundaries of the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District.

The Hennepin County Board of Commissioners is seeking applicants for two vacancies on the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District Board, due to expiration of terms of office on March 8 for Jeffrey Casale and Lee Keeley.

The board coordinates the management of water and related land resources in the watershed that drains into Lake Minnetonka and Minnehaha Creek. The cities of , , Long LakeMinnetonka Beach, , OronoSt. BonifaciusSpring Park,  and  lie entirely within the district. Portions of Deephaven, , ,, IndependenceMaple PlainMedina,Minneapolis, , Minnetrista, ,, ,  and Woodland lie within the district. 

A Watershed District Board member may not be a public officer of the county, state or federal government and must be a resident of the district.

Board members serve three-year terms. Meetings take place on the first, second and fourth Thursdays of every month at 6:45 p.m. at the District offices in Deephaven.

District work sessions are conducted on the third Thursday of each month at the district office in Deephaven.

The deadline for applications is Feb. 23, with interviews to follow.
