Maple Grove police seek suspect in Elm Creek Park attack (kstp.com) — Maple Grove police are asking residents for help identifying a man who allegedly attacked a woman on a trail near Mud Lake in Elm Creek Park Reserve Sunday morning. Officers have released a detailed description, are boosting patrols, and want people in Maple Grove, Champlin, and Dayton to review any surveillance footage and report suspicious activity. 
2. 21-month closure of Maple Grove community center pools begins next week (hometownsource.com) — Maple Grove Community Center's indoor and outdoor pools will close starting Sept. 8 and remain shut for about 21 months while a major renovation and expansion is completed. Residents can expect new slides, expanded aquatics areas, a larger banquet space, more senior and youth programming areas, and a new city-run activity center, with full completion targeted by late 2028.
3. Drought Just Part of Story for Low Water Level on Maple Grove's Rice Lake (ccxmedia.org) — Water levels on Maple Grove's Rice Lake have dropped so much that some residents can't use their boats, and city officials say vandalism to the Elm Creek Dam is making the drought impacts worse. Maple Grove plans to accelerate permanent repairs from 2030 to 2028 and is exploring temporary fixes, after residents pushed for faster action to stabilize the lake.

Suburbs Grapple With E-Bike Concerns Amid Serious Crashes (ccxmedia.org) — Maple Grove has adopted a tougher e-bike and micromobility policy, allowing police to issue escalating citations and even impound vehicles that repeatedly break the law or pose safety risks. The change follows serious crashes and mounting complaints in nearby suburbs, and Maple Grove leaders say they hope the state will eventually add broader regulations.
