Manchester Man Indicted In Child Assault Case: Hillsborough County Superior Court Roundup

Plus: Man accused of raping, robbing Queen City woman; Mass. man indicted in Hancock crash case; stalker indicted on a new stalking charge.

MANCHESTER, NH — The following people were indicted recently in Hillsborough County Superior Court North.

Robert Calder, 58, of South Street in Manchester on a felony robbery charge. He was accused of stealing merchandise from a Kenoco gas station in Manchester and throwing rocks at an employee on April 13.

Devyn T. Canney, 21, of Cody Street in Manchester on a felony second-degree assault charge. He was accused of assaulting and bruising the head and face of a child on Nov. 2, 2022, in Manchester.

Steven Chalmers, 50, of Parker Street in Gardner, Massachusetts, on a felony reckless conduct charge. He was accused of using a vehicle as a deadly weapon, striking another vehicle, and causing it to overturn in Hancock on July 13, 2021.

Desmel Cooper, 40, of Notre Dame Avenue in Manchester on first-degree assault and pistols & revolvers; convicted felons charges, both felonies. He was accused of stabbing another person with a knife on Feb. 12 in Manchester. Cooper is a felon due to a drug conviction in New York in April 2006. Michael Crossfield, 32, of Beech Hill Avenue in Manchester on a felony second-degree assault charge. He was accused of strangling an intimate partner in Manchester on March 6.

Kelly McLeod, 50, of South Mammoth Road in Manchester on a felony stalking charge. He was accused of being in the basement of a home which violated a bail order March 15 in Manchester after previously being convicted of stalking within the last seven years.

Walter Mejia, 46, of Maple Street in Manchester on robbery and aggravated felonious sexual assault charges, both felonies. He was accused of raping a woman on Feb. 20 and using force by punching her to grab her cellphone and identification out of her hands on Feb. 21 in Manchester.
