Collision Leads To Wrong-Way DWI Arrest On I-93

Thomas Devarenne of Manchester was arrested after a collision in Canterbury. NHSP allege he blew twice the legal limit in a breath test.

CANTERBURY, NH — A Queen City man was arrested this morning after allegedly driving the wrong-way on I-93 and causing a collision, according to New Hampshire State Police. Thomas Devarenne, 27, of Manchester, was arrested on Dec. 3, 2017, for aggravated driving while intoxicated, reckless operation, and open container. At just before 3 a.m. today, state troopers were tipped off about a possible wrong-way driver traveling north in the southbound lane on I-93, according to Sgt. Daniel W. Baldassarre of Troop D.

Three troopers found the vehicle – a gray 2012 Honda Civic – just north of Exit 18 in Canterbury.

“The vehicle had become disabled in the high-speed lane, due to a prior collision,” Baldassarre alleged.

The driver was identified as Devarenne and immediately arrested. Baldassarre stated that Devarenne reportedly took a breath test and allegedly blew twice the legal limit.

Devarenne was processed and released on personal recognizance bail. He’s due in Concord District Court on Dec. 22.
