Concord Regional Crimeline Alert Follow-Up: Were You At Capital Plaza Saturday?

Police: Anyone in the area where an improvised incendiary device was found, who may have seen anything suspicious, should come forward.

CONCORD, NH — Police are expanding their investigation of an improvised incendiary device left in Downtown Concord on Saturday — and are now requesting more people to come forward who may have information about the case.

Around 8 p.m., police and fire and rescue teams were sent to 2 Capital Plaza for a report of a suspicious device left in the square. According to witnesses, the box had a bottle with liquid in it, wires hanging out, and was emitting smoke.

Police officers and firefighters deemed it safe, and no one was believed to be in danger.

Later, the New Hampshire State Police Explosives Unit determined the device to be an improvised incendiary device designed to generate smoke, not an explosion.

On Monday, the Concord Regional Crimeline released an updated alert requesting more witnesses to come forward as investigators attempt to find out who was responsible for placing the device in a public square, Deputy Chief John Thomas of the Concord Police Department said.

“We ask that anyone that was in 2 Capital Plaza during the daytime of March 25, or during the hours leading up to the discovery of the device and who witnessed anything suspicious to contact the Criminal Investigations Division at the Concord Police Department at 603-225-8600,” he said. “Citizens are asked to check their camera rolls or electronic devices for anything that may have been captured related to the placement of the device.”
