MANCHESTER, NH — A man from Concord is facing multiple charges after a high-speed chase with New Hampshire State Police on Interstate 93 south and Queen City police in Manchester Friday.

Around 10:30 p.m., a trooper attempted to stop a 2009 Dodge Avenger for lane control violations on I-93 in Hooksett. The driver of the car, later identified as Benjamin M. Defosses, 27, of Concord, was accused of failing to stop despite sirens and emergency lights being activated, Amber Lagace, the public information officer for the state police, said.

“(Defosses) continued to flee at a high rate of speed on I-93 south and into the city of Manchester, where the operator exited the Interstate,” she said. “The pursuit was eventually terminated on Maple Street in the city of Manchester (after) a brief pursuit with the Manchester police.”

Troopers and police searched for Defosses, and he was found later not far from his car on East High Street, Lagace said. He was arrested without incident.

Defosses was charged with reckless conduct with a deadly weapon and operating after being deemed a habitual offender, both felonies, as well as disobeying a police officer, aggravated driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated, operating after suspension offense, and reckless driving. The charges are expected to be levied in both Hillsborough and Merrimack counties.
