CONCORD, NH — A Concord man is facing multiple aggravated felonious sexual assault charges accused of raping an underage girl multiple times between April and June, at different locations around the capital region.

The case came to the attention of police on June 11, after family members of a girl found “disturbing text messages” on her iPhone between her and Gregory Madison Perkins, 30, of Concord Gardens in Concord, according to an affidavit.

When one of the family members tried to speak with the girl about what she saw, she declined to discuss the messages. The family member suspected something occurred and reached out to another family member for help, the detective wrote. The two family members began looking through the iPhone messages and afterward, tried again to discuss some of the messages with the girl, the report stated. She, however, “offered benign explanations” and said there was nothing unusual about the messages, which were not believed by the family members.

After about an hour though, the girl accused Perkins of rape at least three times as well as other accusations and one of the family members contacted the police.

Officers interviewed the girl and then, she was taken to the Merrimack County Advocacy Center for a more extensive interview. Evidence, like the iPhone, was also provided to police.

Police examined the phone and accused Perkins of telling the girl he was bisexual but added, “I’d rather you over anyone,” as well as asking her to “make sure you bring those” and “where a skirt for swimming” while discussing getting together. The girl later told investigators that “bring those” meant condoms and he had also purchased a Plan B kit for her, the report stated.

During a forensic examination of the phone, a detective eyed Facebook messages and texts, and tracked calls and FaceTime chats.

“I did not observe any obvious admissions of criminal sexual activity,” the detective wrote.

There was, however, a Google search about a Plan B contraceptive device and possible effects from taking it, from June 1.

After being interviewed both by police and advocacy center, the accusations against Perkins were deemed credible by detectives — at least three encounters and seven acts of rape from April 15 to June 6. The first incident, the girl stated in the report, was at Perkins’ Concord Gardens apartment in late April. The second was at a hotel in Bow, after she was taken there to go swimming, the affidavit stated. In that incident, the affidavit said, Perkins afterward drove to Rite Aid to buy the girl a Plan B kit, which she took in two doses. The third was a trail in Boscawen where Perkins said they were going to enjoy a campfire together but it led to a third incident inside his pickup truck in early June, the affidavit stated.

The girl provided specific information about what she alleged to have occurred and from there, police began to look into the specifics to gather evidence.

Police contacted the Hampton Inn in Bow and an employee confirmed Perkins rented a room on May 22, according to the affidavit, with a detective writing, “It is therefore believed that this occurred on that date.”

Police then took the victim to Boscawen in an attempt to find an exact location where the third incident was alleged to have occurred on June 6. Eventually, police made their way to an area off Chadwick Hill Road near Walker Pond the girl said looked familiar. Detectives searched the area and “recovered one used condom and one condom wrapper, consistent with (the girl’s) account of the incident.”

Perkins was arrested at 9:46 p.m. on June 12 on seven aggravated felonious sexual assault charges, all felonies.

According to Merrimack County Superior Court records, Perkins is a felon due to a first-degree assault conviction in May 2014, after an incident in Concord in April 2013. In that case, he assaulted a 21-week-old boy that led to multiple fractures. He was found to be in violation of probation or parole in December 2015. Perkins has also previously been arrested on criminal threatening and resisting arrest charges, according to posts on Patch.
