Concord Man Faces Felony Robbery, Theft Charges After Store Incidents
Matthew Sellers of Fox Run Road was accused of robbery, theft, and assault during incidents at Walmart and Lowe's.

CONCORD, NH — A man from Concord with prior arrests has two felony cases working their way through Merrimack County Superior Court due to incidents at two stories this spring.
In mid-May, Concord police were sent to Walmart on Loudon Road for a report of a theft involving a suspect who was “stuffing his truck” with stolen merchandise. When the first officer arrived, she spoke with an employee who said the suspect had just left the area, driving toward Sheep Davis Road. The employee gave the officer a description of the pickup truck, its license plate information, and a description of the suspect.
The store employee said a second employee was watching the man in the self-checkout with a full cart of items, including a scooter, plants, plant beds, car repair items, and other things.

“The suspect checked out only scanning a few of the items in his full cart,” the officer wrote after viewing video surveillance footage.
The second employee confronted the suspect as he walked toward the exit, they exchanged words, and the suspect continued to leave. The employee tried to grab the cart, and the suspect shoved his body toward the employee, the officer wrote.

“The male suspect proceeded to push (the employee) with his right hand and continued to walk out of the store,” the officer wrote.
The suspect paid for $70 worth of items but made off with at least $608, the employee said.
About two hours later, another officer found a pickup truck on South State Street matching the vehicle's description from the incident, took photos of the truck, and confirmed with the reporting officer the vehicle was a match. The pickup truck, a 2007 GMC, had the license plate “SELLERS,” according to an affidavit. An affidavit stated the pickup truck was registered to Matthew Sellers, 39, of Fox Run Drive in Concord.
On May 20, the reporting officer called Sellers and attempted to talk to him about the incident, a report said.
“Matthew would not confirm that he was at Walmart last week,” the officer wrote.
After informing him there was video surveillance footage of him stealing items from the store, he became “extremely uncooperative” and said the officer could speak to his lawyer, the affidavit said.
The officer went back and looked at the footage again and matched a tattoo on Seller’s left hand as well as his body stature, race, and height, which matched physical descriptors that on file with police, the report said.
On May 27, the second officer stopped Sellers for misuse of plates, and he received a warning. The officer who made the stop accused Sellers of “using plate covers to conceal the actual plates of the truck,” the affidavit said. When asked about this, the officer said Sellers was covering up his truck's plates because he “thought he may have had a warrant,” the report said.
The reporting officer issued a warrant for Sellers’ arrest on felony robbery, theft by unauthorized taking, and simple assault charges on June 20. He was arrested the next day.
On July 30, Sellers was arrested again on a felony theft by unauthorized taking, $1,501+, charge after an incident at Lowe’s on Fort Eddy Road in April, according to the Merrimack County Superior Court.
Sellers is due back in court for a dispositional conference on Oct. 17. He requested a lawyer with both cases, according to information filed with the court.
Sellers has previously been arrested on criminal trespass, resisting arrest or detention, and violation of a protective order charges, according to posts on Patch.
