Ryan Grant, the city's interim police chief, said during the past several months there have been "numerous violent acts" in that area of the city — acts which instill fear in residents and have a direct impact their quality of life.

"We share the resident's concerns and are making every effort to stop the violence," he said. "We have pooled all of our resources to put an end to this criminal behavior and we feel confident that these arrests and seizures of two firearms will have an impact."

Grant said the 11 arrests were just the beginning and the efforts by police to address the drug and violence problems in the city would continue.

"We will keep the pressure on until the neighborhood is back where it should be," he said. "We ask that our partners in the community do the same and continue to report suspicious/unlawful activity to the Manchester Police Department. We at the Manchester Police Department cannot fix this alone, we are all in this together."
