Anthony Hartofelis, 61, of Alice Drive in Penacook, was arrested at 7 p.m. on Nov. 9, 2015, on two counts of criminal mischief. Police were sent to the address around 6:30 p.m. to meet with a woman about a domestic disturbance that morning. The woman alleged that Hartofelis had assaulted her and she told him not to be at the house later but when she returned home but he was. The night before, the two reportedly got into an argument about the woman not wanting his mother to live with them. She stated that she was in the garage smoking a cigarette when Hartofelis opened the door behind her and allegedly hit her in the back of the head with his hand and then threw something at her. She did not report any injuries. He then reportedly kicked the water bucket she uses to extinguish her cigarettes and the water hit her. “I observed that there were cigarette butts on the floor around the bucket and that the wall had water spots on it,” the officer alleged. Hartofelis then allegedly ripped up wedding photos in front of her and she alleged that he said he “cut his face out of some of their wedding pictures.” He also allegedly pushed her with his chest upstairs. “She stated that she could hear him hitting things in the bedroom,” the officer reported. “She stated that she believes he hit the ironing board because there was a dent in it that was not there before.” The woman stated that Hartofelis had allegedly assaulted her in the past, and she had had enough and called police. Hartofelis was questioned about the incident and reportedly denied the assault and breaking anything. He reportedly did admit to tearing out his face from their wedding pictures. Hartofelis was later arrested and arraigned the next day. According to the report, while taking pictures of the damages around the house, the officer reportedly found a wedding photo with Hartofelis’ face ripped out of it and the words “wish granted” in marker on it.
